In Person Classes Resume In Argentina Despite COVID

More than 3 million children in the populous province of Buenos Aires resumed in-person classes at all levels Wednesday after a two-months suspension to contain the virus outbreak.

Authorities determined that, despite a severe second COVID-19 wave, the levels of infection have lowered to an acceptable range for the schools to open back up.

Argentina has had over four million cases of the virus and more than 86,000 deaths because of it.

Intensive care admissions skyrocketed during the outbreak that began in late March and currently there are 7,969 high-risk patients, the highest on record here since the pandemic began.

Vaccination, which began in late December and progressed slowly for months, accelerated a few weeks ago.

Immunization with a first dose of 28.63% of the population of about 45 million inhabitants has already been completed.
